MULHOLLAND DRIVE (2001) had me on the hook the first two times that I watched the film. This film is sure to make you say, WHAT THE HELL? Just settle in, enjoy the ambience and be drawn into possibly the best film noir tribute you're ever likely to see. . After that it's a process of unravelling. It's not the easiest film to understand though.

It is beautifully shot, the acting is absolutely perfect and I will watch it over and over again and each time will see something in it that I missed last time around. It gets more odd and the twist later on will either leave you disappointed and deflated or intrigued. Sacreblue Velvet! Don't worry too much about the plot on first viewing. Alas... the stunning Laura Harring drops her towel and that big blurry triangle is still there, and on Blu-ray it just looks ridiculous (why even do a full frontal nude and then censor it like that??). Lynch had baffled me before but this story was so rich and so lean while capturing the tone of the Hollywood that I do wished to have lived in that I kept wanting to learn and to feel more and as the ending approached I felt certain that I was set to get what I desired . What I really was hoping for in getting the Blu-ray from the UK (it's region B btw, so you'll need a player that does that) was that maybe, just maybe, that little bit of censorship in the scene with the two lovely ladies would not be there. 21 Videos. This is a superb film and a must see for any David Lynch fan, as it oozes typical Lynch style and quality, The actress Naomi Watts is fantastic in this and it really shows what great actress she is, for this is my second favourite Lynch film after Blue Velvet!! And in following up on the whole issue apparently it was Laura who requested that DL do that for the DVD release... so we can stop looking for an HD format that doesn't have it.
