The film in some ways had too big a story to tell and the Sparta tournament felt somewhat condensed- not a fault of the filmakers but, wow, if Hbo made this material into a thirteen parter then what a fine film experience it would be! You don't have to be a sports fan because there is a statement about human nature in this film that will move almost anybody. I don't usually like boxing films but this film was brilliant. With Tom Hardy, Nick Nolte, Joel Edgerton, Jennifer Morrison. Definitely recommend this movie to anyone who is a fan of... movies.
Great story and great acting! Beautiful made. Perhaps this is because the film is an advocate of mixed martial arts and does not wish to detract from the sport or play into the hands of those who consider the sport to be barbaric. You do not have to be in to MMA or the UFC to think this is a great film.
