In theory this should have been a 5-star movie. Previous to this remake, the story was based on the idea of an oxygen-deprived colony on Mars, with lots of room for detail, but this version is limited to an almost uninhabitable Earth - damaged by a destructive war between nations, where only two areas of the planet are inhabitable, which has a sort of diminishing effect on action, settings, plot, etc. Christopher Nolan avec Transported to Barsoom, a Civil War vet discovers a barren planet seemingly inhabited by 12-foot tall barbarians. This movie has its own reason you can't go outside and breathe the air.
